PONDA: A social activist in Ponda has raised concerns over the digging of several chambers alongside the road by the Goa Electricity Department (GED) in the bustling town. Viraj Sapre filed a complaint at the Ponda Police Station against the GED contractor, stating that the work is progressing without proper planning and safety sign boards.
According to Sapre, while development works are essential, the lack of planning is causing unnecessary hardship for the residents. In his complaint to the Ponda police, Sapre highlighted that several pits have been dug at the roadside in the town, left dangerously open near the petrol pump and other areas, posing a potential threat to pedestrians and the public.
He emphasised that proper guidelines and safety measures are not being followed during the work, which could lead to fatal accidents. Sapre pointed out that in case of darkness due to power outages, these pits could prove fatal for road users. The complaint aims to draw attention to the need for responsible and safe execution of development projects.
