PANJIM: An activist fighting over an encroachment on the temple land at Bandora was sprayed with black paint on his face at Azad Maidan, here, on Saturday.
The incident has caused public outrage across Goa as it happened just opposite the police headquarters.
Activist Munnalal Halwai was attacked allegedly by goons he says have been sent by a person by name Saurabh Lotlikar from Bandora.
Halwai has filed complaint against Lotlikar for allegedly illegally constructing a G+2 floored bungalow near Ramnathi Temple at Bandora by usurping temple land.
Halwai has alleged that he was attacked with an iron rod on Friday by the same person who sprayed black paint on his face while attending the site inspection of the alleged illegal bungalow. A complaint of the Friday incident has been filed before the Ponda Police.
“Saurabh Lotlikar is a BJP worker. This ‘goondagiri’ is a shame on Goa Police. Just yesterday I have filed a complaint against him for attacking me and today I was attacked again at Azad Maidan, opposite the police headquarters,” Halwai complained. “I urge Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to take immediate action against the culprit,” he said.
Halwai has filed a complaint at the Panjim Police Station against the incident.
