Provoked by the lack of progress following the tragic accident in Dhargal, where a senior citizen lost his life, activists, political leaders, and local residents came together to take action. They collectively approached the PI of the Pernem Police Station to seek an update on the case. Dissatisfied with the lack of action taken over a span of five days, they decided to intensify their efforts. The group announced their intention to submit a memorandum and engage in discussions with the Deputy Superintendent of Police.
Pernem Police admitted that no Police verification was done of the accused driver Yadav involved in the fatal accident at Sukekulan Dargalim on Friday. Police have filed FIR against the driver & the locals but not the contractor Ashoka Buildcon.
The local residents are aggrieved by the fact that an FIR was filed against a group of 10 individuals, who were residents of Pernem, along with 150 to 200 others. They are outraged that the focus of the complaint seemed to be on an alleged unlawful assembly and obstruction of police duties, rather than the arrest of the individuals responsible for causing the accident.
