Actor Rajkummar Rao Appointed as National Icon by Election Commission for Upcoming Assembly Elections

The Election Commission has officially appointed actor Rajkummar Rao as its national icon in preparation for the upcoming assembly elections in five states. The announcement was made by the Election Commission of India, which declared that a formal ceremony will be held in this regard. With over 161 million eligible voters in the five states, these assembly elections will be a significant political event in India.

The schedule for the elections has been finalized, with Mizoram going to the polls on November 7. Chhattisgarh will hold elections in two phases on November 7 and 17, given its substantial 90-member assembly. Madhya Pradesh and Telangana are set to vote on November 17 and 30, respectively. Rajasthan, initially scheduled for November 23, will now have elections on November 25. The counting of votes will occur on December 3.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar emphasized the unique significance of these state elections, as they represent the final assembly elections before the general elections in 2024. The appointment of actor Rajkummar Rao as a national icon aims to encourage voter participation and promote awareness in these crucial elections.
