VASCO: Mormugao Municipal Council Chief Officer Deepali Naik has informed that the municipality has been facing acute staff shortage as 20 posts are vacant for quite some time, as a result these posts have lapsed. She said that MMC has been making efforts to seek approval of the Director of Municipal Administration (DMA) for reviving the lapsed posts.
According to sources, these lapsed posts were approved some two years ago but as the same could not be filled on time, the posts lapsed; since then the MMC has been facing manpower shortage affecting the normal output process adversely and delaying the disposal of even urgent cases.
“On Monday we have promoted 20 Grade C and D employees and soon we will fill up the positions which fell vacant after these promotions. However, still there exists shortage of staff strength as more 20 posts which were earlier approved by the DMA could not be filled and lapsed. Now we have decided to write to the DMA for approval of the 20 lapsed posts,” she said.
Meanwhile, on the recommendations of the departmental promotional committee, three accountants/tax superintendents — Shivram Vaze, Riya G Naik and Abhay M Rane — have been promoted and given new postings. The promotion and posting orders were issued on Tuesday by the Director of Municipal Administration (DMA) Elvis Gomes. As per the posting orders Shivram Vaze has been promoted and posted as accounts and taxation officer (regular basis) to Mapusa Municipal council. Riya Naik has been promoted and posted as accounts and taxation officer for Mormugao Municipal Council (ad hoc basis) and Abhay Naik has been promoted and posted as accounts and taxation officer for Margao Municipal Council.
