PONDA: Fed up with the acute water shortage, residents of Nanus Usgao village on Monday visited Daag Ponda PWD water supply office along with three Panch members and gheraoed the PWD Engineer (JE) over poor water supply from a damaged water tank.
They gave a 15 days ultimatum to PWD officials to repair the water tank and provide sufficient water from it, failing which they will come back again and hold a protest demonstration here.
The locals complained that despite informing about water shortage problem since past 15 days, the PWD allegedly continued to ignore the issue, which forced them to take action.
The locals complained that they are fed up with water crisis. There is no schedule for water supply. Due to this, they aren’t able to store water in their homes, especially if water is released at midnight.
The locals complained that the major issue is their storage tanks never get filled. They have also demanded that the linemen and plumbers looking after the PWD water tank should be changed.
