MARGAO: Taken aback by three incidents of desecration of religious objects in Assolna, Velim and Cuncolim this week, the police have deployed additional patrolling vehicles from Saturday to intensify patrolling in areas under the jurisdiction of Cuncolim police station.
The police have also decided to round up all persons found moving late in the nights as a precautionary measure.
After visiting the Banda chapel this evening, district police chief Shekhar Prabhudessai said that additional police patrol vans have been despatched to Cuncolim with extra manpower to intensify patrolling. “A total of five police vans will patrol the villages from tonight as a precautionary measure,” he said.
Prabhudessai said the Cuncolim police have been directed to round all persons found moving late in the night for verification of their antecedents. “We will round up these persons and take them to the police station and they will be allowed to go only after their verification,” he added.
