Additional security forces dispatched to Curchorem

CURCHOREM: As a precautionary measure, one company of Indian Reserve Battalions (IRB) has been dispatched to Curchorem Police Station to maintain peace, law and order as crucial judgment on the Ayodhya case will be delivered soon.
According to Curchorem PI Ravindra Desai, a meeting has been convened on Saturday to brief the citizens under the Curchorem police jurisdiction the need to maintain peace and communal harmony among the religious communities by respecting the Supreme Court verdict.
The invite has gone out to the leaders of political parties, senior citizens, members of religious groups, councillors and panchas.
“I expect everything will go well, but as a precautionary measure we have called all the leaders of religious committee members, political leaders, councillors, panch members including the people who were involved in the communal riots that erupted in Curchorem in 2006 in which property worth around Rs 1.59 crore was damaged,” PI Desai said and appealed to all the citizens to maintain peace and harmony by respecting the decision of the Supreme Court for the best interest of the country and its people.
