PANJIM: With nearly 50 per cent of the total Class X students opting for Mathematics Level 2, the Goa Board has decided to make these students eligible to answer qualifying entrance examination for admission to Class XI science and diploma courses.
The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) had introduced Mathematics Level 2 for Class X from the Academic Year 2020-21.
Of the total 24,900 students registered for Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination, nearly 12,000 have opted for Mathematics Level 2 paper. The syllabus of Mathematics Level 2 is same as that of Level 1, only question paper set was with lower difficulty level.
The concept was introduced basically for those students who do not prefer to go for Science stream or polytechnic courses in Std XI.
The Board has now proposed that “If a student has offered Mathematics Level 2 (Basic Mathematics) in Class X, he or she will be eligible to answer qualifying entrance examination for admission to Class XI science and diploma courses”.
The entrance examination, which will be based on Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQ), is likely to take place in the last week of July.
