PANJIM: In a bid to provide best possible facilities to children, the Directorate of Education (DoE) has asked schools, within their jurisdiction, to adopt at least one anganwadi.
There are around 1,262 anganwadis and balwadis — child care facilities — operating in the State under the Department of Women and Child Development (WCD). These facilities are operational from the government premises or rented places.
In a circular issued to all the heads of secondary and higher secondary schools, Director Education Shailesh Sinai Zingde has asked institutions to adopt at least one anganwadi and ensure that it is well-supported so that the students get the best possible facilities. The schools are asked to identify the balwadis or anganwadis in the vicinity in consultation with respective managements.
