PONDA: The Ponda fire personnel on Sunday sanitised houses and the ferryboat in Adpoi as the residents voluntarily went into “lockdown mode” after a health worker tested positive for COVID-19 last week.
As a precautionary measure, the locals locked themselves in their houses.
Police were patrolling the Adpoi ferry area. The ferry service used by commuters has been shut since then.
Marcaim MLA Ramkrishna Dhavalikar, Durbhat Adpoi sarpanch Saroj Naik took initiative and created COVID awareness and called upon the locals to adopt precautionary measures.
Adpoi locals Mashal Adpoikar and Prashant Naik said, “This fight is against COVID-19 and not against corona patient.”
Union Minister for Ayush Shripad Naik distributed sanitisers, masks and ayurvedic tablets to the villagers.
It may be recalled that following news of an Adpoi resident, a health worker testing positive, locals closed the Adpoi-Rasoi ferry service and also voluntary shut down shops in Adpoi-Durbhat area.
Sources said the family of the health worker at Adpoi has been checked by the medical team and has been home quarantined. The Marcaim hospital was also sanitised after one suspected COVID patient had visited the hospital.
