who has not left any stone unturned to make sure that Mickky completes his six months imprisonment for assaulting a public servant, has now knocked on the doors of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after the Parsekar cabinet approved Mickky’s pardon over night.
The cabinet on June 30 approved the Miccky’s pardon by circulating the cabinet note.
Adv Rodrigues, in a letter faxed to Narendra Modi on Sunday, has urged the prime minister to seek an explanation from Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar for “acting arbitrarily and malafiedly by circulating the pardon proposal without even having a detailed cabinet discussion.”
In his letter to the prime minister, Adv Rodrigues has stated that since granting of pardon to a convict is a serious decision, the chief minister ought to have also discussed the issue in the assembly as the Goa Legislative Assembly is currently in session instead clearing the proposal to pardon Mickky by a “midnight cabinet circulated decision” which is travesty of rules of propriety.
Adv Rodrigues has drawn the prime minister’s attention to the fact that Mickky was absconding for two long months before surrendering on June 1, 2015. He has also pointed out that his jail sentence was upheld by four courts including the Supreme Court of India.
Calling the Goa Cabinet decision to pardon Mickky as ‘high-handed’ and accusing Chief Minister Parsekar of going overboard in processing Mickky’s plea for pardon, Adv Rodrigues said these acts are contrary to the BJP’s promise of good governance.
