MARGAO: The victims of Kamaxi Forex scam have criticised Adv Rajeev Gomes for “blowing out of proportion” the issue of ‘booing’ and questioned the police as to what steps are being taken to ensure that the accused Nilesh Raikar is held accountable for duping them crores of rupees.
On Tuesday, several victims, who have filed intervention applications in the bail application moved by the accused, denied all the charges levelled against them by Adv Gomes, who is representing Nilesh Raikar.
Strongly criticising Adv Gomes, for allegedly trying to paint all of them in bad light, the victims said he should have identified the people who had manhandled him.
They said that that all those who had filed intervention applications were inside the court and they did not know who from outside the court booed Adv Gomes.
Stressing that when they have not threatened even the accused, his mother and wife, the victims wondered why would they threaten Adv Gomes.
They claimed that it was Adv Gomes who had asked one of the women if they had an issue with him representing the accused and the discussion that followed was in relation to his question.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, hundreds of the victims expressed great disappointment with the police investigation.
“If the accused gets bail, what would stop him from fleeing to other countries like Nepal, Bhutan etc. There are no attempts to recover the hard earned money by the police; and if he gets bail, what assurances are there that he won’t leave the country?” asked Cruz Cardozo, who has been leading the agitation against Kamaxi Forex fraud accused.
