PANJIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Saturday commissioned the Advanced Multipurpose Fire Tender vehicle (AMFT), which is provided as a replacement for the condemned Industrial Fire Tender (IFT) at Verna Fire Station.
The vehicle is purchased under the MPLAD fund of Rajya Sabha (MP) Vinay Tendulkar, who was also present for the launch. The cost of Chassis and Fabrication of Advanced Multipurpose Fire Tender along with Fire Fighting, Search, Rescue, Cutting and Breathing Equipments is Rs 2.34 crore.
The Advanced Multipurpose Fire Tender is built on 16 tonne Ashok Leyland chassis and can accommodate six crew members.
The crew members are provided with individual quick release seats having placement of Breathing Apparatus Set for the individual crew member. The fire fighting appliance is mounted with Godiva Pump (imported) with output of 2000 litres per min.
It is connected with Water Monitor (Variable) mounted on top of the vehicle having throw of 50 mtrs. The vehicle is also attached with 60 mtrs High Pressure Hose Reel Hose with High Pressure Gun which gives throw of 20 mtrs with output of 150 litres per min.
The Advanced Multipurpose Fire Tender is also equipped with a state-of-the-art Telescopic Light Mast fitted with 4×1000 Watts water proof halogen lamps. The light mast can be elevated and vertically extended upto 4.5 mtrs with remote control. The light mast can be rotated 360 degrees.
The light mast is connected to permanent power supply from the heavy duty power generator mounted on chassis of the vehicle. The Advanced Multipurpose Fire Tender is also equipped with the state-of-the-art fire fighting, search, rescue, pneumatic cutting and breaking equipments.
