MARGAO: South Goa District Magistrate N D Agrawal has warned of an FIR against advertisers if they fail to remove or erase the advertisements put up illegally by violating the Defacement of Property Act.
Agrawal told media persons on Tuesday that the advertisers have been given a time frame to act as per the Act by removing the posters and wall paintings or face a penalty of Rs 5000.
“This Act (is already) in force and I have only acted to ensure that public and private places are not defaced by the advertisers with posters and wall paintings,” he said.
Meanwhile, Agrawal said that the first meeting of the South Goa district level monitoring Committee on Cable Television Network has appointed Santo G Naik as the nodal officer to receive all complaints relating to cable TV.
He said the complaint cell would function from the ground floor of the new Collectorate building, near the KTC bus stand, Margao.
