PORVORIM: An assistant lineman from the electricity department at Mapusa was arrested on Friday on charges of assaulting the Assistant Engineer at the Electricity Dept (Sub Div-III) office in Ansabhat-Mapusa.
According to Mapusa police, the Assistant Engineer Jose S Fernandes, complained that the incident had taken place at about 4.30 pm, when the accused, Babli Kadam, of Oxel-Siolim had abused him and had torn his shirt, besides assaulting him in the process.
Fernandes also stated that Kadam had pushed him in such a way that he nearly fell out of the window of his office, which is on the second floor.
Acting on the complaint, Mapusa police arrested the accused under Sections 504, 325, 427, 336 IPC and later released him on bail.
