VASCO: South Goa SP Shekar Prabhudesai has placed police constable Prasad M Shirodkar, attached to the Dabolim Airport, under suspension after he was accused of abusing and assaulting the members of Chaitanya Cooperative Housing Society on February 16.
According to the Dabolim police, SP Prabhudesai suspended Shirodkar after conducting a departmental inquiry in the matter.
Sources at Dabolim police station informed Herald that Shirodkar is also facing disciplinary action for allegedly abusing PI Naulesh Desai attached to the Dabolim Airport police station.
It may be recalled that on February 16 the secretary of Chaitanya Cooperative Housing Society at New Vaddem had filed a complaint against PC Shirodkar and 15 others accusing them of abusing and assaulting the members of the housing society.
The Vasco police had registered an offence against Shirodkar and 15 others under Sections 147, 323, 352, 504, 506 (ii) r/w 149 of IPC.
When contacted, PI Naulesh Desai of Dabolim Airport police station confirmed that PC Shirodkar has been placed under suspension.
According to the order, Shirodkar has to report to SP South Reserve line Margao and not leave the headquarters without obtaining previous permission of the Superintendent of Police (South) Margao.
The order further directs PC Shirodkar to deposit
his kit articles and appointment certificate with the officer in-charge and report to in-charge of SP (South)
Margao.
