PANJIM: An African national was allegedly manhandled by a group of angry locals after he reportedly intimidated a woman rider near Candolim Primary Health Centre on Saturday.
According to police sources, the woman fell off when the two bikes ~ ridden by the African and the woman ~ collided with each other during the evening hours. “He began intimidating her. When some locals saw him misbehaving with her they questioned him,” said a police official.
The man got into an argument with the locals, which is when the latter nearly attacked him. A police escort team attached to the Porvorim station on seeing the chaos intervened to prevent the situation from turning ugly and took the African to Calangute police station.
Sources said he was reportedly let off after brief questioning by the police.
No police officer was willing to comment on the issue on record.
