PANJIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Monday allotted portfolios to the newly-inducted ministers in his Cabinet.
The four MLAs – Chandrkant (Babu) Kavlekar, Michael Lobo, Felipe Neri Rodrigues and Jennifer Monserrate were sworn in on Saturday after Sawant decided to re-shuffle the portfolios.
Dy Chief Minister Kavlekar has been given the portfolios held by former Dy CM Vijai Sardesai that of Town and Country Planning, Agriculture, Archives, Archaeology and Factories & Boilers.
Former Dy Speaker Lobo has been allotted RDA, Waste Management, Ports and Science & Technology.
Rodrigues has been given responsibility of Water Resources Department, Fisheries and Legal Metrology, portfolios earlier held by Vinod Paliencar.
Jennifer Monserrate has been given the Revenue, Information Technology and Labour & Employment.
In the same exercise, Sawant re-alloted Law and Judiciary to Nilesh Cabral while stripping him of Science and Technology. Thus Vishwajit Rane has lost the Law portfolio.
Similarly, Mauvin Godinho has been given charge of Housing but has lost Animal Husbandry portfolio.
The reshuffle came following dropping of three Goa Forward Minister Vijai Sardesai, Vinod Paliencar and Jayesh Salgaocar and independent Rohan Khaunte from the cabinet, after 10 Congress MLAs split and merged with the BJP.
