PONDA: The Goa Milk Union Employees Association (GMUE) after serving a notice to Goa Diary on Monday gave a one-day deadline for implementation of Seventh Pay scale, failing to comply, to hold three days strike from December 8.
During a meeting, the GMUEA reminded the Goa Dairy management about its notice stating that it will wait for Goa Dairy’s decision on December 7 and if their demand is not met then the association will go ahead with their three days strike from December 8. Earlier, the association had given a notice to Goa Dairy management for implementation of Seventh Pay and pending DA.
It may be recalled that the GMUE last month in a letter to Managing Director (MD) of Goa Dairy has given notice of three days token strike from December 8 to 10, for implementation of Seventh Pay Commission’s recommendations and for Dearness Allowance (DA).
In the notice, the employees pointed out that in the past they have written several correspondence/letters to the administrator and MD for implementing their demands. Therefore, with no positive response till date, the association has no option then to serve the present notice as a last resort.
The employees claimed that the Administrative Committee Chairman claims through newspaper report that Goa Dairy made a profit of Rs 3 crore and as such their rightful demands are justified at this stage and therefore request to implement the Seventh Pay Commission’s recommendations, payment of pending Dearness Allowance on or before December 6, failing which, they would resort to three days strike and the management will be solely responsible for the strike.
The copy of notice has been also forwarded to Chairman of Administrative Committee and Assistant Labour Commissioner Office at Tisk-Ponda.
Earlier, Administrative Committee Chairman Durgesh Shirodkar had said that the issue would be discussed in Goa Dairy Administrative Committee meeting. However, it is learnt that the Goa Dairy management so far has not taken any decision on the issue.
