PONDA: After O Heraldo highlighted the issue of the pipeline which was leaking for over three and half years, at Daag Ponda in its Thursday edition, the PWD has begun to repair the pipeline below the culvert on a war footing. Work was going on till late night.
The pipeline located below the culvert was leaking gallons of water but was not easily noticeable. Locals claimed that they had informed the PWD Office long back about this leakage, even as the local PWD office at Daag Ponda was a short distance away.
The locals noticing that people in Ponda and surrounding parts are facing a water shortage after the dam and water level reduced brought the long forgotten issue to the notice of O Heraldo. Following this authorities immediately took notice of the issue and started repairing the pipeline on a war footing till late evening. They were forced to dig the road using breaker. Several employees were called in to do the repair work. The locals thanked O Heraldo for pushing the PWD into action, which it did not do for the last over two and half years.
