PANJIM: After being caught napping in connection with the fake call centre which flourished in their “backyard”, Colvale Police conducted a massive tenant verification drive on Thursday and detained 101 persons from the locality, who were found residing without verification.
The drive commenced at 6 am at Ganesh Nagar and Mushirwado in Colvale.
O Heraldo, during its coverage of the fake call centre bust at Colvale had reported that most of the premises given on rent had tenants who did not go through the police verification process.
The police team comprising PI Colvale Somnath Mahajik, PSI Mandar Parab, PSI Kunal Naik, ASI Ramchandra Sawant, Santosh Arlekar and other subordinate staff detained 101 males in the locality, who were found residing without tenant verification.
Further, 39 persons were arrested under Section 41 of the CrPC, who had no documents and were subsequently produced before SDM Mapusa along with a report under Section 109 of the CrPC to bond over them.
