Agacaim Police made a breakthrough arrest by apprehending Pranali Naik (26), a resident of Dongri Mandur, in connection with a significant gold theft. The stolen gold ornaments, valued at approximately Rs 6 lakhs, were successfully recovered following the arrest.
The incident came to light after Mrs. Grefa Fernandes (25), residing at H.No.510/3 Pequeno, Mercurim, Agacaim, reported the theft to the authorities on Monday, December 4th. Mrs. Fernandes disclosed that between the hours of 01:00 to 21:00 on November 20, 2023, unidentified individuals had stolen gold items from her residence.
The stolen items included a gold bracelet, a gold chain, and a gold bangle, collectively weighing around 90 grams and estimated at Rs 6,00,000/-. These ornaments held sentimental value for Mrs. Fernandes as they were intended for her upcoming wedding ceremony, scheduled for November 23, 2023.
Responding promptly to the complaint, PI Vikram Naik initiated an investigation and assembled a team comprising PSI Narayan Pinge, PC Rama Ghadi, PC 8027 Raju Attar. Through diligent efforts and valuable tips from reliable sources, the team focused on Pranali Naik from Dongrim Mandur, Tiswadi Goa, as the primary suspect in the case.
Subsequently, PSI Narayan Pinge, accompanied by PC Rama Ghadi, PC 8027 Raju Attar, PC-7687 Raghoba Parsekar, PC-8192 Rohit Yadav, LPC-8610 Suvarna Narve, LPC 8784 Suvarna Naik, swiftly proceeded to Pranali Naik’s residence.
Through detailed interrogation, Pranali Naik admitted to the crime, leading to the recovery of the stolen property worth Rs 6,00,000/- from her residence at H.no. 498 Dongrim Mandur, Tiswadi Goa. Pranali Naik, daughter of Pratap Krishnanath Naik, confessed to her involvement in the theft.
Further investigation is in progress under the guidance of PSI Ramaesh Harijan, supervised by SP North at Porvorim SDPO Panaji and PI at Agacaim PS.
