PANJIM: The Agasaim Police have arrested a person for allegedly carrying cash of Rs 4.5 lakh in his car without having any legal document.
According to the police, the accused Manjunath H Halwagal alias Halwagal, a resident of Malwara St Lawrence, Agasaim, was travelling in a car and when he reached in St Andre constituency, his car was intercepted by Saish R Parab, SST officer incharge of Segment 2 and his team.
The team conducted a search of his car and found that he was allegedly carrying cash of Rs 4.5 lakh in the glove box of the car. He was asked to produce a legal document in support of the cash, but he could not produce it, which amounted to violating direction of the Election Commission of India (ECI). The incident occurred on Sunday, May 5 at around noon.
An offence has been registered against the accused under section 188 of IPC and PSI S Naik is conducting further investigations.
