PANJIM: In two separate theft cases reported in their jurisdiction, Agassaim Police on Friday apprehended 35-year-old Leela Chauhan Kuber for stealing a water pump worth Rs 1,500 from Siridao and registered a complaint against an unknown person for decamping with gold ornaments worth Rs 1.85 lakhfrom Goa Velha.
According to Agassaim Police, Brenito Minino Gonsalves, a resident of Moita Grand, St Lawrence in a complaint stated that Kuber, a native from Gadga, Maharashtra and currently residing near Merces Circle, Panjim, stole his water pump from Micasa Restaurant, Siridao. In this regard, the accused was booked under Section 379 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and was later released on bail.
Police said in the second case gold ornaments including a gold chain, mangalsutra, gold bangle, pair of gold earring, other wedding gifts worth Rs 1.4 lakh and ATM cards were stolen from the under construction house situated at Zuari, Goa Velha.
The investigation was carried out after receiving a complaint from Gregory Rosario. The complainant further stated the accused further withdrew cash of Rs 45,000 from two different ATM cards. A team headed by ASI Rocky Pereira is conducting further investigation.
