MARGAO: The President of the All Goa Bakers and Confectioners Association (AGBCA) has urged all the bakers to avail the association’s help in getting licences.
AGBCA President Peter Fernandes was reacting to the circular issued by Goa State Pollution Control Board directing all the bakers to obtain its permissions and licences before January.
The applications made for the permissions from Food & Drugs Administration had got blocked due to some technical issues. “We request that the procedures of acquiring permissions from FDA have to be relaxed at least for the traditional bakers,” Peter said.
“If the procedure is simplified, then, it will be of great help to the bakers to get the licences and permissions soon and will also support the traditional old bakeries that do not have documents,” Peter added.
He also informed that the AGBCA has been hosting many workshops and training for the bakers so that there is a information flow on the ways and ideas of ideal baking and confectionery business.
“We are also taking steps to support the youngsters to enter the business and improve it and for that the EDC Chairman Siddharth Kunkolienkar has extended his help,” Peter said.
Meanwhile, the ‘Poderanche Fest’ will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Church with a special mass at 10 am, on October 1.
The feast is being celebrated for the last seven years where blessings are sought for good and successful business. The tools and the equipment used in bakeries are blessed on the occasion.
