The Indian Medical Association (IMA) Goa has
demanded strict central laws and action on the violence against doctors so that
the culprits are immediately arrested. The members of the association stated
that the violence against doctors is on the rise in India and yet there are
no laws to provide justice to the doctors. This comes after the gruesome rape
and murder of a third-year PG doctor in Kolkata.
In a memorandum that the IMA submitted to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday, the organization has made an urgent appeal for strict civil and judicial reforms to curb violence and crimes against medical professionals in the State of Goa.
The request has been made in the wake of the heinous crime against a fellow member of the medical fraternity in R.G Kar Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata. “The Indian Medical Association Goa State is aghast dismayed at the increase of crimes against medical professionals across the country, we now bring to your notice the following issues for your cognizance and urgent redressal” the memo read.
