AGKMS rules out fielding panels for panchayat elections

VASCO: The Akhil Goa Kannada Maha Sangh (AGKMS) on Thursday clarified that it will not field panels for the ensuing general panchayat elections.

AGKMS honorary president Siddhana Meti said that his statement was misquoted by a section of media and clarified that the Goa Kannada Maha Sangh would not form panels for delayed panchayat elections in Goa. Meti said, “Of late, an unwarranted controversy had started with his misquoted statement that

Kannadigas would contest panchayat elections under the panel of ‘Goan Kannadiga’. The misquoted statement has been widely deliberated and discussed across section of mainline media and social media. I wish to clarify that my statement was misunderstood and misquoted,” he said reiterating that the AGKMS will not form any panel or banner to contest panchayat elections in Goa.

He appealed to the people to refain from making such derogatory words against any community and also thanked media for avoiding such word attributed to a particular community.
