Speaking to Herald from Delhi, Fernandes said during his meeting with Gandhi, the latter told him that loyalty and sincerity will be rewarded while allotting party tickets to candidates for the Assembly elections.

Fernandes said, “Rahul Gandhi sought to know about the political happenings in the State after the resignation of former Chief Minister Luizinho Faleiro. Gandhi told me that he had offered Faleiro GPCC presidentship but he declined the offer citing health conditions. What more I can offer to him, is what he told me.”

Besides Chidambaram, Fernandes also met AICC general secretary (organisation) K C Venugopal.

The AICC had summoned the former MLA to the national capital as a fire-fighting measure after the latter had expressed his views on the political happenings within the party. Fernandes has reiterated that he is a Congressman and that he will not quit the party.
