AGONDA: Various development related resolutions were passed at the Agonda village panchayat gram sabha held on Sunday. Panchayat secretary Sushant Naik during the meeting informed that manure from the wet waste is being produced and Agonda has become first panchayat of its kind to do so. “The manure will be sold at a kiosk on May 22 on the occasion of International Day for Biological Biodiversity,” said Naik.

Sarpanch Fatima Rodrigues presided over the meeting which was attended by deputy sarpanch Prital Fernandes, panch members Karuna Faldesai, John Fernandes, Kenishya Fernandes and BDO officer Bhiva Velip. Panch members Nilesh Pagi and Ramnath Velip abstained from the meeting.

The sarpanch informed that eight tenders of development works have been approved which includes roads and gutter constructions at Mudkud, Paarve, Mudcheli and Karashirmal. Panchayat members also assured of resolving the issue of stray dogs in Dhavalkhajan while informing that appeal regarding erection of speed-breakers has been submitted to the deputy collector.

The gram sabha members demanded action against persons responsible for dumping garbage in the river,

“Seven  daily wage labourers and a driver have been appointed for collecting garbage. It takes seven days to create manure from the machinery given by the government and private machinery takes less time than that. Currently one tonne of manure is ready,” said the secretary. The villagers present for the sabha were given 2kg of manure for free.
