CANACONA: Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) site inspection team on Wednesday conducted detailed inspection of a private property at Agonda beach, where controversial development is carried out in gross violation of CRZ norms.
Officials from the Superintendent of Survey & Land Records helped the GCZMA inspection team by taking various measurements with the help of measuring tape and then with the help of a Total Station Machine.
The GCZMA inspection team could complete only part of the scheduled property pertaining to two of the six occupants named by a complainant for allegedly carrying out illegal developmental activities in Agonda.
“The team will again visit the particular coast in Agonda to complete the remaining earmarked areas,” informed an official at the site.
According to sources, the team members inspected each and every structure, temporary and permanent, and listed the same. Concrete and slab constructions were also taken note of by the team.
An official at the site said, “Visibly a lot can be seen, but a report will be submitted to GCZMA, once the site inspection of the entire area is completed. It is up to the GCZMA to decide on the matter.”
Interestingly, even while the GCZMA site inspection team was working, the team reportedly took note of beach beds spread and prominently used by tourists.
It may be recalled that a resident citing illegal constructions/business activities by occupants had also alleged illegal issuance of house numbers, use of illegal water and electricity connections within CRZ area and named six persons including a local politician and a close relative of ex-Karnataka minister in his complaint to GCZMA seeking action.
