The All Goa Private Bus Owners Association (AGPBOA) on Saturday elected a new committee amidst heated discussion to oust Sudip Tamankar.
The association comprising of 361 members had less than 100 members for the election at T B Cunha hall.
A 14-member committee was finally formed with Vishal Desai replacing Shivdas Kambli as the association president. Venkatesh Naik has been elected as the vice-president, Sudip Tamankar as General Secretary, two joint secretaries and nine executive members.
The new committee has decided to hold its first meeting on December 13, when it registers itself with the Registrar.
The meeting simmered when some attendees including Chimbel bus owners who participated in the election were not in favour to take Tamankar into the committee again.
They complained that the committee discards Chimbel group from being members in the committee.
“The committee did not distribute membership forms to us. We will not support the committee as long as Tamankar is in it…,” said one of the Chimbel bus owners.
To this Tamankar reacted that the members have never approached the committee with their grievances earlier.
“They always give anti-committee statements. If they wanted membership then why did they not approach us? They may have personal grudge against me,” he alleged.
