MARGAO: South Goa district Collector N D Agrawal on Tuesday reviewed the implementation of the High Court order in respect of directions issued to the municipal and panchayat bodies on tackling plastic waste.
Chief Officers of Municipal bodies and Sarpanchas from many panchayat areas attended the meeting, which was also attended by officials of the Goa State Pollution Control Board.
After the meeting, Agrawal informed that the High Court mandates the local bodies to collect plastic waste on a periodic basis. “The meeting has reviewed the progress of work at the Panchayat and Municipal level. Officials of the GPCB will inspect the villages to see if the local bodies have complied with the court directions or not”, Agrawal added.
