In a significant recognition of outstanding contributions to agriculture, the Government of Goa has approved a prestigious list of farmers set to be honoured at the State Agricultural Awards 2023. The felicitation ceremony is scheduled to take place on December 19, 2023, coinciding with Goa Liberation Day, at the sprawling Goa University Ground in Taleigao, Goa.
The award ceremony, slated to commence sharply at 8:00 A.M., promises to celebrate the dedication and hard work of farmers who have significantly contributed to the agricultural landscape of the state. Notably, the venue for the event is the Helipad Area at Goa University Ground.
The coveted Krishi Ratna award will be bestowed upon Hemant P. Samant, hailing from Conxem, Nirancal, Ponda. Meanwhile, the distinguished Kzushi Vibhushan will be shared between two farmers, Mahesh Jaisingrao Rane of Khorli, Mapusa (with a farm in Latambarcem, Bicholim, Goa), and Mahesh Narayan Gaunker from Thatodi, Dharbandora.
Dayanand Anant Fal Dessai, residing at Dessaiwada, Pirla, Quepem will be honoured with the Krishi Bhushan Award. Adding a touch of sustainability to the accolades, Krishna Anand Sinari Gaonkar from Ambeshi Wada, Amona, Sankhali, will receive the Special Agriculture Award titled “Fr. Inacio Almeida Annual Award for Organic Farming.”
The awardee farmers and their family members are required to carry valid ID proofs for the felicitation ceremony. Additionally, an invitation has been extended to the awardees and their families to attend a post-ceremony function at Krishi Bhavan, Tonca, Caranzalem, Goa, starting at 10:00 A.M. on the same day. This event will provide an opportunity for the agricultural community to come together and further celebrate the spirit of farming excellence in the region.
