PONDA: Continuing its agitation for a hike in ore transportation rates, the All Goa Truck Owners’ Association (AGTOA) staged a dharna at Vadakade, Usgao, on Monday. During the protest, AGTOA reiterated that it would not change its stand and would not transport ore, even if pressurized, until its demand has been fulfilled by the government and Vedanta.
The truckers vowed to remain united and also not to fall for the tactics of the government and Vedanta, which they claimed were trying to divide them. They also demanded a meeting with the decision-makers of Vedanta to sort out the issue.
Meanwhile, AGTOA president Nilkant Gawas alleged that the government is forcing and pressurizing the truck drivers to resume transportation and that it is taking the side of those who have looted Goa.
