MARGAO: In a unique initiative, the Cavelossim village panchayat cleaned wells and ponds used by the community in the village. Some of these wells had not been cleaned for years.
“As part of the pre-monsoon works, the Cavelossim panchayat has taken up the work of cleaning and desilting the ponds and wells in the village. This is the first phase, in which we have cleaned fourteen wells, two in each ward,” said Sarpanch Dixon Vaz.
“Our village panchayat’s theme is ‘clean and green village’ and as part of that programme, we will do maximum work so that our people are benefited. The desilting work of water bodies will help avoid flooding and allow the smooth flow of water flow during the upcoming monsoon season. My mission is that in the next two years the entire agricultural land in the village will be used for farming activities,” Vaz added.
