Panjim: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday announced that the recruitment process in the government departments will start from January.
The State government on November 30 lifted the moratorium imposed on the new recruitments and tendering of new development projects, imposed in March, in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sawant said that the Staff Selection Commission (SEC) will start issuing No Objection Certificates (NOC) to the departments, thus paving the way for them to issue advertisements to fill the vacant posts.
“The recruitment process will start from January. Advertisements will be issued to fill up the technical vacant posts in various departments,” he said.
The Chief Minister had earlier announced that nearly 10,000 vacant posts will be filled in the next one year.
In his year-end media briefing, Sawant announced that the government will be coming out with a ‘Blueprint for 2025’, which will include short term and long term vision of the State. He added that the departments have already started work to draft the vision documents.
Responding to a question on mining resumption, Sawant said that he has been intensively following up the matter and that the hearing in the Supreme Court has been scheduled for next month.
“I am happy that to some extent, my government was able to resume mining activities in the form of transportation of e-auction ore, thus providing relief to the dependents,” he said.
Sawant reiterated that the Board exams of Class X, XII and Final Year exams of undergraduate and postgraduate courses will be held in an offline mode. “The exams of other students will be held via an online mode,” he said.
He explained that these are crucial exams and the students will have to come physically and answer them.
Further, Sawant informed that from the coming academic year onwards, various government colleges will provide training to the students in civil service examinations like GPSC and UPSC. He also said that the government is looking forward to set up a Tribal Research Center in the State.
On the tourism front, Sawant said that under the Swadesh Darshan scheme, the government has proposed to develop three hinterland circuits- Bicholim- Sanquelim, Sanguem and Canacona.
“Also, we are exploring cruise tourism on a public private partnership (PPP) model,” he said.
Sawant added that the proposed Greenfield International Airport at Mopa will be completed by 2022, while the Electronic City at Tuem, will also be ready next year.
