PANJIM: In a major reshuffle around six months ahead of the Assembly elections, the Goa Police transferred 17 Police Inspectors (PI) including two officers who have remained in controversy during their recent stint at their present place of posting.
Valpoi PI Sagar Ekoskar, whose act of alleged high-handedness during the public agitation against the now-scrapped proposed Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) project at Shel-Melauli in January this year; and Old Goa PI Krishna Sinari whose alleged laxity in handling quite a few cases, are among the 17 transferred PIs.
Ekoskar has been transferred to Maina Curtorim Police Station (PS) while Sinari is posted at Panjim Coastal Security PS.
PIs Ramesh Shirodkar is posted at TC Panjim, Somnath Mahajik at SB Headquarters, Harish Gawas is given the charge of Valpoi PS, Shivram Vaigankar is posted at SB headquarters (to also supervise SB Ponda), Pravin Gawas at Sanguem PS, Sachin Panalkar at PHQ Panjim, Dattaram Raut at the new Old Goa PS, while Wilson D’Souza is also posted at SB Headquarters, Rajesh Kumar to Terekhol Coastal Security PS, Gurudas Kadam is posted at Cuncolim PS, Therron D’Costa — CB Ribandar, Sachin Narvekar — EOC Panjim, Tukaram Chawan — Colva PS, Ananda Shirodkar — FRRO Panjim, Ditendra Naik — Margao Town PS.
The transfers come following recommendation from Police Establishment Board and approved by the Office of Director General of Police.
