PANJIM: All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has revised the faculty-student ratio from 1:15 to 1:20 and issued circulars to all AICTE approved institutions.
AICTE also informed all technical institutions to adhere to the approved fee structure of the State Fee Regulatory Committee while charging fees from students.
“Downsizing the teaching faculty due to revision of faculty student ratio norms will not be accepted in any case by AICTE. The ratio can only be adjusted on superannuation of faculty or resignation on their own,” states the AICTE notice.
The notice stated that State governments and universities may ensure that downsizing of faculty due to revised faculty student ratio should not be done by any AICTE approved institutions.
The council also said that it has come to its notice that some technical institutions were charging fees from students not in accordance with the fee structure of the State Fee Regulatory Committee.
“Any violation of instructions issued by the AICTE shall call for punitive action including withdrawal of approval,” the notice stated.
