MARGAO: Goonj is organising a food, clothes and other items collection drive to help those affected by the cyclone Fani and the collection drive will be held from July 5 to 7 from 9 am to 6 pm at Arjuntree behind the BSNL building at Margao.
Donors are requested not to give any soiled material and pack everything in cartons and write their names and contact numbers on them. They will accept food, utensils, clothes, toiletries, essentials and miscellaneous items.
In food any type of rice except basmati, pulses, sugar, tea leaves and spices are solicited while in utensils, pots, pans, cookers of 3 to 5 litres only are sought. Clothes that can be donated include sarees, blouses, petticoats, new under garments, lungi, dhoti, children’s clothing, pants, bed sheets, blankets, slipper and other footwear.
Toiletries include tooth brushes, tooth pastes, sanitary pads, soaps, buckets and mugs, washing soaps and powders while tarpaulin, ropes, mosquito nets, solar lights, torches and pencil batteries are the essentials that can be donated.
Miscellaneous items that can be donated are pain relievers, candles, lighters, scissors, gloves, masks, umbrellas, rain coats, water purifying tablets and mosquito repellents.
