VASCO: The Sharjah-Coimbatore Air Arabia flight was diverted to Dabolim International Airport after a 70-year-old passenger fell ill in mid air.

According to the information, the Air Arabia flight 413 to Coimbatore from Sharjah departed from Sharjah at around 3.50 am on Sunday.
While the aircraft was in mid-air a woman passenger identified as Leela Abraham (70) complaint of sudden severe chest pain. The cabin crew members intimated about the medical emergency to the pilot and emergency landing permission was sought.
“As the Goa airport was the closest, the pilot sought permission for emergency landing at the Dabolim airport. Considering the medical emergency the aircraft was allowed to land at Dabolim around 4.30 am, Goa International Airport Director KS Rao told Herald.  “As a routine exercise, we had also made arrangement for ambulance service before the flight could land. The patient was shifted to hospital. The aircraft later proceeded towards its destination,” Rao added.
Airport sources informed that the patient was accompanied by her husband Abraham Thomas (74).
“She was immediately referred to a private hospital and then to the Cottage Hospital at Chicalim. However, the doctors after examining the patient, declared her dead on arrival. Doctors suspect that she might have died due to a cardiac arrest,” sources said.
Dabolim police while investigating the case came to know from her husband that his wife was suffering from asthma and diabetes for the past 20 years. The couple from Tamil Nadu had gone to visit their son’s family staying at Sharjah few days back.
“We have registered the case as unnatural death and her body has been sent for post mortem which would be conducted on Monday,” police said.
