PANJIM: Advocate Aires Rodrigues has filed a petition before the High Court of Bombay at Goa seeking a thorough probe into the meeting held at Dabolim Airport premises on July 1, addressed by Bharatiya Janata Party National President Amit Shah and others.
Rodrigues, in his petition, has claimed that the meeting was illegal and unlawful. The matter was mentioned before the court on Friday for an urgent hearing and will be heard on Monday by a Division Bench comprising Justice F M Reis and Justice Nutan Sardessai.
Rodrigues has made the Secretary of the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation, Chief Secretary of Goa, Director General of Police, the Airport Director and the Deputy Commandant of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at the airport as parties to the petition.
In his petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, Rodrigues has sought directions to ensure that the rule of law is upheld by holding an inquiry to fix responsibility and take action in accordance with law against the organisers and those responsible for the illegal public meeting held within the precincts of Dabolim Airport on July 1, 2017 in total violation of law.
Drawing the Court’s attention that on July 2 he had addressed a joint complaint to the Secretary of Ministry of Civil Aviation, Chief Secretary of Goa and the Director General of Police demanding an immediate inquiry, Rodrigues stated that as the authorities had not acted and he is constrained to seek the intervention of the High Court.
Rodrigues also submitted that the law enforcement authorities should have registered an FIR against the organisers of that meeting, Shah and the dignitaries present.
