PANJIM: Activist Aires Rodrigues has lodged a complaint with the Goa Lokayukta over the alleged Rs 70 crore land scam involving former Congress MLA Subhash Shirodkar. The complaint on Monday comes a week after Shirodkar joined the BJP along with Mandrem MLA Dayanand Sopte.
Besides Shirodkar, Rodrigues has also named Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and the Chief Secretary of Goa as respondents.
Lokayukta Justice P K Misra issued notice to the Chief Secretary seeking a report from him while also directing him to place the records of the Shiroda land acquisition. In his complaint, Rodrigues has drawn the attention of the Lokayukta as to how Shirodkar, who resigned as MLA on October 16 and joined the BJP, has benefitted from this deal.
Rodrigues further alleged that Vedanta Real Estate Developers owned by Shirodkar and his three brothers had purchased that land on October 19, 2006 for Rs 45 per sq mtr which the government has now acquired for Rs 3,500 per sq mtr.
