VASCO: As part of AAI’s efforts to add new facilities to improve the efficiency of airport operations for the benefit of passengers and stakeholders, the Airport Operations Control Center (AOCC) was inaugurated on Friday by Airports Authority of India Chairman Dr Guruprasad Mohapatra.
With the commissioning of AOCC, Dabolim airport will become the 12th out 125 airports managed by AAI where AOCC will be available. AOCC will be the nerve center of airport operations in times to come.
“From the passengers’ point of view, immediate benefits of AOCC will be that it will enable us to provide real time information about flights operating at Goa on flight information displays,” Mahapatra said.
He said this will be possible as real time data about flights available in the Air Traffic Control Network will be integrated into AOCC. “This will enable actual time of arrival/departure, boarding gate number for departing passengers and baggage conveyor number for arriving passengers to be available on display systems,” he said.
From airport operations point of view, he continued, AOCC will enable airline operators, ground handling agencies and AAI to ensure optimum utilization of available resources.
“In the AOCC, separate computer systems will be provided to airlines and ground handling agencies from where they can coordinate their entire airport operations. Presently CCTV, flight information display system, public announcement voice announcement, check-in counter allocation, parking bay allocation, arrival conveyor belt allocation are integrated in AOCC. However, building management system, baggage handling system, baggage reconciliation solution shall be incorporated in future once system connectivity is established with AODB/AOCC,” he stated.
