AITUC opposes handing over of KTC properties to developers

All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) has objected to Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited’s (KTCL) plans to hand over their properties to private developers.
“We wholly oppose the move of KTCL, who are trying to lease or sell out the prime lands belonging to the corporation to a private firm,” AITUC general secretary Christopher Fonseca said.
Talking to Herald earlier this week, KTCL Chairman Deepak Dhavalikar had said that Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) has been asked to conduct feasibility report to rent out the properties on Public Private Partnership (PPP) basis to private players to make up for the financial requirements to run the state-owned transport system. The implementation of sixth pay commission, has burdened corporation with additional liability of Rs 1.75 crore per month rather then inherited by a loan liability of Rs 40 crore to Rs 50 crore to the Goa State Cooperative Bank, together making dent into the earnings.
“The excuse made by the corporation that the implementation of Sixth pay has let them into financial brink is not acceptable,” Fonseca said.
Fonseca alleged that KTCL wants to earn commission by leasing out properties to private players and they are taking Sixth pay just as an excuse to do it.
