The Pernem District Collector and Mamletdar, stationed at the Old Patradevi Check Post, intercepted a Maharashtra (MH) passing car laden with alcohol. The driver of the vehicle has been detained pending further investigation into the matter.

The incident unfolded as authorities were conducting routine inspections at the strategic Old Patradevi Check Post road. Upon suspicion, they stopped a car bearing a Maharashtra registration plate. Upon inspection, the vehicle was found to be carrying a considerable quantity of alcohol, the specifics of which are yet to be disclosed.

Further details regarding the incident, including the quantity and type of alcohol seized, as well as the identity of the detained driver, are anticipated to emerge as the investigation progresses.

It can be recalled that earlier this week Senior law enforcement officials from both Sindhudurg and Goa convened at the Banda Police Station to strategize vigilance, jointly deciding to combat crime effectively and ensure a seamless operation during this critical period.

The meeting saw the participation of police officials including Sawantwadi Sub Divisional Police Officer Kavita Gaikwad, North Goa Sub Divisional Police Officer Jivaba Dalvi, and Bicholim (Goa) Sub Divisional Police Officer Sagar Ekoskar, among others. Together, they deliberated extensively on issues pertinent to the inter-state border area.

A major outcome of the meeting was the decision to exchange crucial information relating to declared and fugitive criminals, registered cases, liquor and drug operations, and other relevant data between the two states. This exchange is expected to streamline the process of tracking interstate criminals and enhancing crime detection measures.
