MAPUSA: The villagers of Aldona carried out a silent and contemplative candle light procession seeking justice for the two priests from St Thomas Higher Secondary School who were abruptly relieved of their services in the middle of the academic year.
The procession witnessed youth, ex-students, parents, senior citizens and others with placards, who gathered and walked unitedly demanding justice for the two priests. The procession started from Calvim Bridge and congregated at Tercena ground, Aldona.
Locals joined the procession at various places along the route to Tercena ground and recited the rosary along the route. The procession culminated with original composed songs being sung by the parents.
They demanded an answer from the Chairman and Provincial Superior of the Fransalian Education Society from the Pune Province who had assured the PTA in September that an investigation will take place in 10 days.
The gathering also voiced out strongly that no reply has been received so far from the chairman. The solidarity march also pointed out that 40 days have passed and no justice is delivered to the two priests office bearers. People gathered promised continuous support to the two priests till justice is delivered.
Police personnel were also present to handle any law and order situation.
