PERNEM/MAPUSA: Agarwada-Chopdem, Aldona and Nachinola village panchayats on Monday withdrew the lockdown with immediate effect after receiving verbal instructions from the government authorities. It may be recalled that the Agarwada-Chopdem and Nachinola panchayats had issued a notice that the village would undergo a total lockdown for seven days from June 15 to 21 while Aldona had decided to shut down for three days.
Agarwada-Chopdem Panchayat had issued a notice stating that village would undergo a total lockdown after four persons with travel history in the village were home quarantined, while Aldona and Nachinola had called for a total shutdown following a positive coronavirus case was detected in Aldona.
Fresh notices were issued by all three panchayats informing that the locals that the notices issued on June 13 stand withdrawn with an immediate effect as per the verbal instructions from the government authorities as a total lockdown in panchayat jurisdiction may affect the people’s livelihood.
The notices of Agarwada-Chopdem and Nachinola Panchayat stated that the general public, shop owners and stakeholders are requested to maintain social distancing at the public places and compulsorily use face masks to prevent the further spread of coronavirus in the panchayat jurisdiction.
Meanwhile, the Siolim-Marna Panchayat on Monday approached the Block Development Office, Bardez with a request to allow a lockdown in the village. However, the request was turned down.
