PANJIM: The Aldona Primary Health Centre has been “activated” as isolation facility for Omicron suspected cases.
So far two suspected cases of Omicron have been isolated in the Aldona PHC isolation ward. The ward which has few beds at the centre has been used for isolation purpose.
Speaking to media persons, Health Officer Dr Preetam Naik said the COVID situation in Aldona jurisdiction is under control as nine positive cases are monitored by the team.
“The COVID situation is under control and there have been around nine Covid positive cases which are being treated. They are given kits with instructions,” said Naik adding that COVID testing continues daily from 11 to 12 noon.
“We do the testing daily and if anyone is found positive then we immediately inform them and we do follow-up. In Aldona there is no Omicron case detected as the message which is circulating is false,” said Naik.
“Our vaccination is done on a daily basis and we have achieved 95 per cent vaccination of the second dose as well. Now on January 3, we are going ahead of vaccination of teenagers in the age group of 15 to 18 years and this will be held from the respective schools and preparations are on. The teenagers will receive Covaxin and we used to give Covashield for the beneficiaries. The two doses at the gap of 28 days will be given for children in a campaign mode. We will cover all the schools within a week of commencement”.
