PANJIM: The Aldona Village Panchayat has stated that the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) was functional and that all steps will be taken to address the issues flagged by the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) so that the MRF remains operational.
Hearing a miscellaneous civil application filed by Devidas Panjikar in suo motu writ petition, the Aldona Sarpanch sought leave to withdraw the affidavit dated July 3, 2023 with liberty to file a fresh affidavit of compliance.
Sarpanch Ashwin D’Souza, who was present in the Court stated that he will pay an amount of Rs 25,000 to the GSPCB within a week and produce necessary receipt along with the fresh affidavit to be filed on July 12.
Upon receipt of the affidavit, the Court has asked the GSPCB to once again conduct a surprise check and report on the status of compliance.
On July 10, the court will hear only the issue concerning the Arambol Village Panchayat while, the main matter will come uip for hearing on July 25.
